We’re in Chicago next week for the AWP writers conference and will be throwing a happy hour for Tumblr writers of all stripes. We’d love to see you there.
The venue, Uncharted Books, is a new bookstore funded on Kickstarter which had a Tumblr blog before it was born. It’s a dream spot for book-web-community nerds and we absolutely can’t wait to see it (and all of you.)

Anish Kapoor’s famous Cloudgate, in Millennium Park, Chicago, now has an equally mesmerising choreographed light show, Luminous Field, by Luftwerk, enhancing the experience of the work furthermore.

This looks incredible. Oh man, I have never missed Chicago more! I loved the Bean. I worked down the street from there and would stop by every few days to stare at the reflections. I wish I were there to do a little disco dance under these lights.

Toph and Charlie have a neighbor whose front yard light is a super bright fluorescent street lamp. The shadows it creates in their greenhouse make it look like I’m staying in a house that will soon be the scene of a horror film.

Industrial interiors.  Look at all those hard working objects.  Filing cabinets, industrial lights.  This reminds me that we need to go through our collection of vintage and antique tools and objects - take some photos and write up some stories to share. Saw this here.  See more here.

VOICE ARRAY | Rafael Lozano-Hemmer

As a participant speaks into an intercom, their voice is automatically translated into flashes of light and then this unique blinking pattern is stored as a loop in the first light of the array. Each new recording pushes all previous recordings one position down and gradually one can hear the cumulative sound of the 288 previous recordings. The voice that was pushed out of the array can then be heard by itself.
